After consulting with thousands of moms in the hospital and home settings, we have recognized two things that were hindering care. First, new moms are overwhelmed with an abundance of information and are left confused or frustrated with differing “advice” they find. They desire trustworthy, concise, and targeted instruction that relates to their specific challenges. Second, quality, evidence-based, convenient resources for lactation specialists are hard to find, especially regarding more complex lactation issues.
As a result, we developed these cards for our own business, Indy Lactation Care, and have had a tremendous response. When our clients have the right information and a relevant care plan, they feel empowered, and issues are resolved more quickly. When we leave our clients with a physical item versus a digital one, they have a quick reference that they can utilize again and again. Being able to share and explain this information with others, such family members or health care providers, builds confidence and support around the clients’ goals.
